Throughout your studies, you will have access to a variety of free academic support. At USF, your teachers, advisors, tutors and staff are all dedicated to your success.At Patyway Program we offer:
- Specialized tutoring in physics, calculus, economics, statistics, business and many other subjects designed to support international students studying at an American university.
- Workshops and tutoring at every level.
- Personalized academic advising to assist you with your individual study plan.
- Standardized Test Prep for GRE/GMAT, and language exams like IELTS, PTEA, TOEFL and Cambridge English.
Once you progress, USF offers:
- English writing support through the Writing Studio.
- Tutoring in a wide range of undergraduate courses and majors such as accounting/ finance, economics and chemistry.
- The USF Smart Lab where you will receive extra math support.

Undergraduate Admissions
There are three ways to begin your undergraduate studies at USF. With more than 79 bachelor’s degrees, flexible study plans and multiple start dates throughout the year, we will help you find the path that is right for you.International Year One
International Year One allows you to begin earning credits toward your degree even if you do not meet the academic and English requirements for direct entry. You will receive additional support to help you successfully complete your first year and graduate in the same amount of time as direct entry students. The Pathway program you qualify for is determined by your English language scores.Entry Requirements

Direct Entry
If you meet the academic and English language requirements for your degree program, you can apply directly to the University of South Florida.High school diploma with a minimum 3.0 out of 4.0 GPA equivalency and minimum test scores in SAT or ACT. (GPA for secondary study records will be calculated by USF International Admissions)
- Minimum post-secondary GPA of 2.5 (if applicable, calculated by USF International Admissions)
- English language requirements must meet SAT or ACT minimums
- SAT minimum score of 1160
- ACT minimum score of 24
- Lower SAT or ACT will be considered if GPA is higher than a 3.0
- PTEA minimum score of 53
- Direct admission to USF is competitive and meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance.
English Language Program
If you do not meet the direct or International Year One entry language requirements you can enter our Academic English program to improve your academic and language skills. Once you have achieved the required language level, you can progress to International Year One or enter your degree program directly. Learn more on page 16.
Graduate Admissions
USF offers 105 master’s and specialist programs, 49 doctoral programs and several dual degree programs. You have several paths to begin earning your graduate degree.Graduate Pathway Program
Our Graduate Pathway program allows you to begin earning credits toward your degree even if you do not meet the direct entry requirements. The program will help build the academic foundation, essential English language skills and GRE or GMAT test preparation to ensure your success in graduate-level studies at USF. You will receive the highest level of support with dedicated academic advisors throughout your program. The Pathway program you qualify for is determined by your English language scores.Entry Requirements
Undergraduate degree comparable to a 4-year US bachelor’s degree with 2.5 - 2.75 GPA and minimum English language requirements in one of the following tests.Pathway - 1-Semester

GRE and GMAT Entry Requirements
GRE or GMAT scores are not required to enter Graduate Pathway programs but are required to progress to some graduate degree programs. All students who are entering a program that requires a score will be required to submit a baseline GMAT/GRE score upon arrival. This can be unofficial. If you do not have a score to present, you will take an unofficial test during Orientation. These test results will be strictly for advising purposes. You will receive over 40 hours of GRE or GMAT preparation while studying in the Pathway program. If you already have the required GMAT or GRE score before joining the Pathway, you do not need to join test preparation classes.Direct Entry
